In accordance with FTC guidelines this page outlines the ways Bearings generates revenue from our website and enewsletter.

Bearings is an editorial publication that features products and services we deem valuable. We do not receive compensation for our reviews unless it is clearly marked “Sponsored Post,” “Sponsored Feature” or the like.

Our value is in offering you knowledgeable perspective and recommendations on products, services and experiences. We are able to provide this service by generating revenue to cover expenses and enhance our publication. We strive to always do this in such a way that the revenue source does not generate a conflict of interest with our editorial practices. Simply put, if we don’t like it or think it could enhance your lifestyle, we won’t feature it.

Currently, these are the ways we generate revenue through our website and enewsletter:

Affiliate Links
As stated, we only review and present products, services and experiences we like. Once we’ve decide to feature an item, we may use an “affiliate link” that pays us a small commission, should you click through and buy the product. Currently we only have affiliate relationships with iTunes and Amazon.

Sponsor Blocks
On our website we have “Sponsor” blocks on the left hand side. The “sponsors” have in some way compensated us – which could be through fees, brand exposure exchange or complimentary products.

Sponsored Features
From time to time, either on our website or email edition, we may include a “Sponsored Feature,” which is clearly marked as such. The organization, product or service highlighted has in some way compensated us for this feature.

Review Copies/Products
We may receive a free copy of a book, CD or a sample product in order to analyze and possibly review it for our readers. Regardless, we will only feature it if we believe it is of value to you, not because we received it for free.

Features/Recommendations
In the process of reviewing products, services, experiences, we do our best to only feature items that we believe would serve you and other readers well. We strive to test or experience our features first-hand, however, that is not always possible. Our recommendations are only for your entertainment and personal knowledge and should not be construed as any type of guarantee of the product, service, or experience’s results.
